Top 5

Top 5: Vampires

5. True Blood (TV Series): Ok, so the accents are cheesy, and there’s much more nudity than is probably necessary even in a night-time cable show. But I love it for the visual effects and the who-dunnit mystery aspect. Or at least until I find a new #5.

4. Bram Stoker’s Dracula: I complain about a lot of aspects of this film: Keanu Reeves, the fact that the vamp could go out int he sunlight. But one thing makes up for all of that, Gary Oldman. He’s totally the man, esp. in this film.

3. Interview with a Vampire: It stayed pretty close to the novel (incedentally the only book in the series I liked), it was pretty, is probably one of the few Tom Cruise films I actually enjoy. Not to mention budding actress Kirsten Dunst in one of her better roles.

2. The Lost Boys: A perrenial favorite from my youth. Kitchsy dialogue, sexy boy-toy vamps, geat soundtraack. It’s like “the Breakfast Club” of horror movies.

1. From Dusk ’til Dawn: A film that mixes all sorts of awesomeness: Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino, Vampires, Good Music, and Tom Freakin’ Savini! BOOYAH!

Top 5: Michael Jackson Songs

Yeah he was a bit of a mess, but he made decent tunes… R.I.P. King of Pop

5. They Don’t Care About Us: I actually have to admit I forgot about this one until recently. It had a lot of controversy around it and never really got a ton of radio play, if I remember correctly. However it has an undeniably catchy street beat, and an important (albeit misunderstood) message about tolerance.

4. Beat It: Beacause it’s the first MJ song I remember liking as a kid. I only discovered “Off the Wall” and the Jackson 5, after the fact.

3. Smooth Criminal: I like it for the juxtaposition between it being a poppy dance number and the fact that’s it’s about a woman who’s been attacked/killed. Also Alien Ant Farm did that rockin’ cover version.

2. Scream (featuring Janet): possibly for the video (which is all with the PVC and the anime) but also because it’s catchy and easy to dance to.

1. Thriller: Well of course- great zombie horror video, catchy dance, Vincent Price. ‘Nuff Said.

Top 5: McDonald’s Food

5. The Original Apple Pie (RIP!): Please bring it back. I am willing to die from trans-fats for the cause of deliciousness. Also if you’re bringing stuff back anyways: honorable mention also goes to – Chicken Fajitas, The McD.L.T. (I don’t care what you say, the Big ‘n’ Tasty is NOT the same), and Oriental Dipping Sauces for McNuggets (anyone else remember those besides me?).

4. Coca-Cola: Sure you can get Coca-Cola pretty much anywhere on Earth; but only McDonald’s brixes it in that very special way ( I wish I knew thier formulation).

3. Filet O’ Fish: Yeah I live in New England, and I can get really good fish whenever I want it. But there’s just something endearing about that little square patty with 2,000 lbs of tartar sauce on it.

2. 10:55 AM French Fries: Those of you who’ve been there right when they switch from Breakfast to Lunch know what I’m talking about. They’re all hot & fresh!

1. Southern Style Chicken: I also used to call this the fried butter sandwich, though it does seem to have lost some of it’s butteryness since it came out. Fried chicken with pickles on it, simple and good.
